Kelly Thompson. Fashion Illustrator, photographer and art director. Today, I am going to tell you a brief story about love, loss and the rediscovery of beautiful illustrations on tumblr.
I have a weakness for strong illustrations whose subject seem as those they may fade away if you even dare to blink. If you follow my writing, you can probably tell that I easily get lost in wonderfully executed illustrations and dare I admit, I may even fall in love sometimes.
A few months ago a came across the illustration Kelly Thompson did for Remix Magazine and loved it (pictured below). Unfortunately, this discovery came about while I was doing 1 million other things and it was ultimately lost forever. Until this morning.

As a tumbled tumblr searching for something wonderful, I saw her again. There she was, the most magical pouty lipped, rosey cheeked, golden eyed albino you ever did see. I am kidding of course. But I did decide to look into the works of Kelly Thompson and have to say, she is quite the well rounded artist.

Thompson’s lengthy list of clients, include: 1am Magazine, Fused Magazine, and Mimco, Thompson’s work has been published and featured in exhibitions around the world. Her works bleed emotion and have been described as “nonchalantly sexy”. That is without question both accurate and descriptive. She eludes to female sexuality, which as illustrated by Kelly Thompson is both soft yet powerful.
The next step I always take when stalking researching an illustrator is to read their about page. Opposed to the standard, elusive, bio written in third person, Thompson features the writing of a friend. I learned some obvious facts about Thompsons style and professional titles and then gained insight as to who Thompson is as a person, her love for bagels, tea and good conversation. It was written so romantically in fact, as I concluded the 3rd paragraph of her about page write up all I could think was, “Kelly Thompson, will you have a cup of tea with me?”.

Great story, Question, did she agree to have a cup of tea? If you do meet with her what questions will you ask and does she do illustration that can be turned into fashion?
Thanks,
EC
