Late fashion illustrator Bernard Blossac painted illustrations of Parisian aristocratic elegance, telling a vivid story on each of his paintings. Elegance that seems as if it may glide off of the page if you don’t keep your eye on it.
It is well known that Blossac was stationed in Paris during the German occupation, but what you see in his illustrations, is not rough and horrible. Blossac illustrated the chic life that continued throughout Paris, despite being occupied by Germany.
I came across the Blossac’s Balenciaga even gown illustration (pictured below) the other day and I remembered falling in love with his style of illustration back in college. I love how Blossac conveys not only the luxury of fashion, but he softly portrays a time period, providing enough detail to paint a vivid picture of the chic aristocratic lifestyle.
