Fashion illustration is all about showcasing ideas, trends and looks as they relate to the whimsical world of fashion. I love when an illustrators is capable of capturing movement and feeling in their illustrations. Belgian illustrator Carole Wilmet’s illustrations are executed predominately using pencil and all have a very realistic feel.
Wilmet’s illustrations draw inspiration from everyday life, the people that surround her the fashion industry and old photographs, to name a few things. All things that most illustrators find inspiring, but I enjoy the fact that Wilmet makes a point to share the fashion story of everyday people. We aren’t all models, or fashion students, and I love than Wilmet’s illustrations express the styles and looks of people we all see everyday. It makes it extremely easy to connect.
Wilmet’s lines are a tad more concise but the overall style reminds me of french illustrator Marynn. Check out some of my favs:
