The creative duo Carla Rendon and Jessica Ruiz that make up the art of Crajes, are making a name for themselves from Barcelona, Spain. Their distinct style, using mixed media and pale or muted colors in a twisted surrealist take on pop culture. The adorable dewy-eyed girls featured in most of their works are surrounded by intricate and obscure details of more random, grotesque images.
Because Crajes has been influenced by creating their own expression of childhood memories and pop culture, some of their work has noticeable characters such as Pinocchio or the Black Swan. Some of the most noticed works are murals they have done. One which featured an entire room that they hand painted for an exhibition at El Refugi in Barcelona this past November. Another of a girl is spread across the outside of a building. Aside from just collaborating with one another on their artwork, Crajes also hosts art shows and events with eclectic themes, encouraging others to be creative. Carla and Jessica have come together and found a way to create art with the perfect amount of charm and sinister attitude that will draw everyone in to inspect the fine details of their work.
