This past Friday I was “fortunate” enough to watch an event that was celebrated by people across the world: the royal wedding. It is obvious that the royal wedding was the subject of much conversation this past week. One subject that was frequently discussed was the plethora of elaborate hats worn by wedding attendees. Some were more subtle and classic others seemed as though the just right out of a Dr. Suess book and plopped themselves directly smack in the middle of Princess Beatrice’s forehead (pictured).
It led me to question whether knock-offs of these hats will become a new trendy accessory. Although I would prefer if hats did not become a necessity in closets around the world, it would be the ideal time for clothing companies to add to the mass of Royal Wedding merchandise, and create a line of hats inspired by those worn to the royal wedding.
Think about it, their target audience would consist of those die-hard fans that woke up hours before the wedding in order to prep for the event, and potentially the trendsetters, bold enough to wear a decorative hat to their next American wedding. With all the royal wedding press exposure, I am sure we will be seeing some rendition of hats inspired by those at the wedding in the future.
Think the hat trend will cross the pond and gain popularity in America?
